Hi Joan,

A lot of people may not realize this, but you can view images such as a jpeg or gif image in Kinovea. To find and open an image though you have to go to file/open then the folder you are storing it in to open. I view images quite often in the program to perform detailed analysis as far as pointing something out or drawing lines on the image for printouts. How hard would be to make the images show up in the File Explorer in the same fashion as the video files? Should we ask the group if this would be a feature they would like to see? I may be one of the few who see a benefit in this function.

I guess I should add why I do this. Sometimes I am comparing a pro baseball player fielding a baseball, which I only have an image of and not a video. I would then compare one of my kids fielding and put the image side-by-side and show them the difference.

THanks,
Mike

Hello,

Never heard of them, but the site is very confusing. I think I would rather stick with a convensional camcorder. The new one I am going to buy shortly that I mentioned in my earlier post will do up to 600 fps for 10 sec. of recording.

I did use an Aiptek HD camcorder, but I am getting ready to buy a Sanyo Xacti VPC-FH1. The Aiptek shoots at 60 frames per sec. The Sanyo has a mode that will record 600 frames per second for 10 seconds. It also has different recording speeds. Your typical camcorder records at 30 frames per second.

Most of the new camcorders are High Def. which causes problems with the program. Not for sure if Joan found a fix for this yet or not. It is not actually the program but more of the computers not being able to process the video fast enough for the program.

usually different pitchers, but I have used different views. Or the same pitcher but different times I recorded.

You can do it either way. I typically use the left and right arrow keys on my keyboard once I am synced to scroll through the videos. It gives better control I think. Also I can easily go back and fourth as needed.

Hi Acer,

Do you mean how do you do the process with the program or how do you get the videos in sync?

If you are wanting to know how to set it up you start by opening one video. Then click on view at the menu accross the top of the screen and select two playback screens. Then open the other file. Once you do that you find two common places in the videos and click on the sync button at the bottom controls, also known as the common controls. It will be the icon the looks like two clocks. You then use the common controls to move through the video.

Typically when I sync two videos I like to start the sync process at there release point of the ball. I will bring up both videos side-by-side. Play one until I get to the release point. Then play the other until I get to the release point on it. Then I hit the sync button.

Lets go back a step before we go to far. The first thing I will typically do is cut the videos down to one complete pitch so the computer and program are not working to hard to process the videos. It may not be necessary for you, but my camcorder shoots in High Def. and if I load two full videos it will slow down and the sync function will not work well.

If this does not answer your question just let me know.

Hi Joan,

Just tried it and itis up and running again. I will try it out and let you know what I find.

Hi Joan,

Been awhile since I posted. Been using the program and it is still working great. Have not had a chance to run the new ver 8.0 through many test yet, but I will soon. Anyways I would like to see sound added to the list. Many times when I am out filming my son hitting I will mark a certain section in the video with a comment so I can find it easier. With out the sound it makes it hard to find.

Thanks,
Mike
