Topic: Anyone using the PS3 Eye cam.

I was looking around and found this PS3 eye cam for pretty cheap and wanted to see if anyone had success using one with Kinovea or would I just be wasting $.

Re: Anyone using the PS3 Eye cam.

I use them and they're terrific. Can do 125 fps (with some loss of clarity of image) as well.

Re: Anyone using the PS3 Eye cam.

I am also getting started using the PS3Eye and it looks like a great camera.  I am hoping to be able to run simultaneous capture from two cameras, front and side.

If you use the PS3 Eye, check out this thread for a link to the drivers and Kinovea config file.

Be sure to report back your findings, and good luck!

Re: Anyone using the PS3 Eye cam.

Hi

Using the information posted here, various other places and some fiddling I've got the PS Eye up and runing. I've posted a step by step guide to what I did on my blog which may or may not be helpful. This is certainly a very cheap way of getting 75fps at 640x480.

Re: Anyone using the PS3 Eye cam.

Hi

Just a follow-up to the use of the PS3 Eye Webcam with Kinovea. I've just posted a sample of footage from the camera which was recorded at 60fps and a frame size of 640x480, I found that the USB2 port was able to cope with that Ok. Obviously YouTube will only show 30fps but at least you can see that using this camera at 60fps the tracking can be got to remain locked at a cadence of 80+ when using the BikeFit setup.

Here is part of the same video slowed down to about 30%

Cheers,

Great results, Quentin.  I apparently need a better laptop because I get dropped frames at 60 fps.

Sure the problem isn't with your port speed?
