What’s new in Kinovea 2025.2#

Release notes for Kinovea 2025.2, published in March 2026. Kinovea 2025.2 improves upon 2025.1 but does not introduce any new major features.

Player#

  • enhancement Improved the alignment of the cursor with the current frame in the timeline control.

  • enhancement Improved the precision of the timestamps in the timeline control.

  • enhancement The timeline control now shows boundaries of individual frames.

  • enhancement The player infobar now shows the capture frame rate instead of the video frame rate.

  • fix When rotating the video the infobar image size value was not updated.

Annotations#

  • enhancement Improved detection of loading annotations into the same video to synchronize objects.

  • fix Loading a KVA on top of a video with reduced size could cause a crash.

Measurement#

  • enhancement Text based timecodes are now rounded to the nearest centisecond or millisecond instead of truncated.

  • enhancement The ability to override the baseline playback frame rate was removed to avoid confusion.

  • fix Timing could be imprecise in several places for certain videos.

  • fix The angular plot on Angle-to-vertical and Angle-to-horizontal was broken.

Tracking#

  • enhancement When tracking via playback a tracking failure now stops the video.

Export#

  • enhancement perf Export of image sequences with only key images and export of documents is now much faster.

  • enhancement In JSON export, changed userFramerate to videoFramerate.

  • fix When saving an image sequence the output data was always PNG even when JPEG was requested.

Capture#

  • fix Possible exception in the UDP monitor.

General#

  • fix Changing the Show all languages option in the preferences did not update the list in the main language menu.
