Hello again and thank you for those improved import functions on 8.13 - and a new suggestion. Would it be possible to choose combined videos stacked on top of each other as well as besides? In some events the comparison and magnification works better in this setting?

Hello Bubba. Not that complicated. The speed of a golfball is around 70m/s With an ordinary framerate of 30fps, the ball travels more than 2 meters. 60fps makes a frametravel of roughly a meter. If you are filming from an adequate distance, you could catch one frame of flight (including a reference measure). Applying an objectional reference, *.svg-grid of centered circles at the origin of flight (each radius representing a defined speed at that framerate: 0,2m->17m/s, 0,6m->51m/s aso.) and angular radii, one could estimate speed and angle at a glance...?

This is just a "simple" idea. Because the g-ball is launched from a fixed point, you can make a *.svg measuring grid with predrawn angles (accounting for free vertical fall) and speed lines (circles centered at the launch, the size of the grid is proportional to the FPS of your video). Put the start of the grid at the ball when you see the first movement then let´s say 5-10 frames (0,25s, 0,125s or less) from the launch you will see the ball at the angle AND distance travelled?  The accuracy of this simplified system should not differ much from the "pixel & delay" in the automated videocheck?

Same thing here. And the colours go really odd...Probably somthing with the cam, though...

Good idea, Joan. I suggest that one should be able to do a partial image overlay - just picking out the part to be compared. Otherwise the resizing and placing adjustments will blur the total picture. A simple square cutting/copying tool?

....Nice...The next step would be us coaches making a forum for discussion and  event specific libraries on these videos +  *.svg pictures. I would be very interested in having different skill levels and suggested corrective measures/methods to apply. There is wisdom out there...

The nice thing is also that you can put them onto your streaming video and they will be "recorded" on top of your instruction. Helps a lot! Another useful program in "Paint", with which you can build series of picture with the "lasso"-tool aso. to use on the videos. Keep it up - it´s fun

Hello.
A still better option is to use the "observational reference" and insert an *.svg picture of an athlete. They can be prepared with Inkscape and turned into straight colour pics, line drawings etc.
I tried it - it works fine smile

...Hello Joan. I got one more idea on this overlay function: would it be possible put 2-3 markers or marked areas (with some distinct objects) at the beginning of each video and the markers would "fixate" the frames relative to each other. The manual movement of frames would be automated. This combination of overlay, moving origin of coordinates would make visual analysis and comparison A LOT easier...

And overlaying the graphical objects without blending them into the video would be a great feature, too. Iam sorry for sounding like a kid before Christmas, wanting more and more...;)

Sounds very logical to me. That was the function I expected...;) I expected WYSIWYG on the blended single screen when I tried to export a sequence. Your solution seems good.

OK. What would still be needed: the possibility to make a sequence of overlay photos. Now the sequence moves only in the other video... Would it be possible to increase or decrease the transparency of the overlay to improve visibility?.

I think your suggestion would work good enough smile for my simple purposes...

Yes. The origin of coordinates... smile
With this function it would become possible to make rough comparisons on videos not filmed from a stable tripod and if there could be TWO floating referencepoints linked to the measurement tool, we would have a way to overcome some filming angle and distance issues...?

Would it be possible to make a floating Origo, that could be placed in the video like the marker. This "origo" would track it´s position and create a rough reference to other moving object if the camera was moving. Of course this would not be a scientific measurement standard, but would give the coach some better ideas...;).  I have experimented with using a dedicated tracking marker as an origo and then manually editing the data in my Spreadsheet...

Hello. If I try to place an observational reference on my streaming video, the program hangs up. The other graphical elements (angles, texts, ...) work fine. Being able to "predraw" elements on streaming video before saving would save lots of time!
I am using Microsoft Cinema on 30 fps VGA and Vista.
