  • Background layer with color and opacity, sitting between the video and the drawings

  • Grid tool: separate number of rows and columns, option to display distance lines

I'm back from a week in Barcelona where I was with the ChronoJump team (if you like Kinovea check them out, it is an open hardware project with open source software for all kinds of sports related measurements).

Since I was preparing the trip I didn't really have time to explain in more details the new features of this version and how to use them, I will update the original post progressively.

While in Barcelona I met with several users and these discussions were very productive for me to understand some issues with the program and how to make it better. So if you have things you feel could be done more efficiently or long standing annoyances don't hesitate to mention them here, that's how the program evolves.

Thank you for all your efforts in making this program. I have used it quite a lot. I was stoked to see you have a new version. I went to install it and ... nothing.

At what point did it fail? when starting? Do you see the splash screen at all?

OK, so instead of cluttering the original post and duplicating the work of writing documentation I've decided to make dedicated threads for each feature/topic based on the documentation pages and I'll point the OP to these topics. Hope these will be useful to get feedback about the documentation itself (typos, clarifications needed, etc.).

When I finished the installation (using the .exe file) ... nothing else happened. No window, no error message, nada. Checked my antivirus, checked everything I could think of: no messages of any kind. Tried on different laptops and still the same.

Then I tried the .zip file ... and everything works good.

Side question: should I have written this in "Bugs report" instead?

Can we add an operation method like keyframe and RV to click and drag in the center of the video to watch frame by frame. There is also the function of frame extraction playback. Thank you, it would be perfect if there were such an operational method.

Hold the ALT key and click and drag the video, it will move frame by frame (or mouse wheel back and forth).

I don't know what you mean by "frame extraction playback", please describe with more details. If you mean playback of image sequences, it is already supported (for the common image formats, not EXR).

By RV I expect you mean Autodesk RV or Open RV, I'm not familiar with this program.

Thank you for all your efforts in making this program. After instelled, there is nothing. I face the problem as the same as "triple003". I can see the picture of openning, but during a few second the openning picture disappears suddenly, and then nothing. the version of 2024.1. 2023.1 and  0.9.5 face the same problem. I also tried the zip.file usefuless.  I really need this software in my research. I wish you could give me some help.

Hi Joan,

first of all, thank you for your incredible work on Kinovea. I truly appreciate the effort that goes into developing and maintaining such a powerful tool for motion analysis.

I am considering purchasing four Daheng MER2-160-249U3C-HS cameras for high-speed motion capture (minimum 227 fps). I would like to know if Kinovea supports simultaneous recording from all four cameras, allowing me to capture a multi-angle synchronized recording for technique analysis.

Would this setup work smoothly with Kinovea? Are there any limitations or considerations I should be aware of?

This is a minor release mainly addressing the crash when exporting to Excel and updating translations.

Fixes

    Fixed - General: in preferences, capture folders selectors were not working.
    Fixed - General: using the portable version from within a synchronized OneDrive directory could cause a crash.
    Fixed - Export: exporting spreadsheet to Microsoft Excel was causing a crash.
    Fixed - Export: copy image to clipboard wasn't working correctly.
    Fixed - Player: keyboard shortcuts weren't working for dual screen commands when the focus is on an individual screen.
    Fixed - Player: timeline position wasn't restored correctly after an export operation.
    Fixed - Annotations: resucitated drawings after undo of delete of a keyframe were not properly registered for tracking.
    Fixed - Annotations: grabbing of lines perfectly vertical or horizontal wasn't working.
    Fixed - Annotations: positions of drawings during rendering were not accurate inside the pixel.
    Fixed - Camera motion: reset of camera motion data wasn't working.

Translation updates

    Spanish, Croatian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Chinese (traditional), Russian, Ukrainian.
