Bonjour Joan,

I've recently experienced some issues with exporting "side by side" videos. I usual analyse screen recorded video after sporting events. Regardless of the annotations used I've not previously experienced issues.

However currently my videos export with shorter lengths than when viewed in Kinovea, or play upside down in certain players (VLC). Some also export in slo-mo even though I have chosen 100% speed for export.

The only issue I can spot is that I am mixing source file types (MKV, MP4 and 25 vs. 60 fps). But previously this has not been an issue.

Let me know if I am missing something

Merci

Some spambot posted an answer to this which made me realize I hadn't responsed. Is it still a problem in 2025.1? If yes can you identify which version is working and which version is not working? Which output format are you using?

Hi Joan,

Most of these issues have resolved. I think it may have been the source video file type and/or hardware issues as I am on an older Surface laptop. I still experience the "unintentional SloMo" issues from time to time.

I usual try to export in MP4 but sometimes using AVI resolves issues when trying to view the exported files on an Android phone after.

Today however I experienced some other issues, like "text" boxes that will not show edited text (i.e. when I change from the default TEXT 1, to say "Rock") and also the Kinogram feature is doing some very strange things with portrait video.

So all in all maybe all of these issued are related to my hardware?

Merci

Re: Kinogram mode. Yeah unfortunately at the moment this mode is still bound by the aspect ratio of the original footage. The initial values for the number of rows and columns and the crop rectangles default to the last ones used so it sometimes looks wonky or super small with empty space both at the top/bottom and on the sides. The export will crop out the empty space and can be larger. I tried to auto-rotate the canvas by 90° at some point but it caused other issues.

For now if the original footage is in portrait mode you might find it better to change the grid to something more appropriate, like 3x4 or something. Apart from that it should work the same.
