It appears the issue with FLIR cameras is that when you have two of them of the same model connected at the same time, the identifier we use doesn't differentiate between them and this causes a crash. Single camera should work.

Is there a possibility that this will be enhanced/fixed in the future to allow for 2 of the same FLIR cameras to work? Or is this just a permanent shortcoming of the driver(s)?

Yes it should be fixable.

Hi Joan - Any progress with a fix? I'm looking to get a 2nd one of the same FLIR camera but would be great to know that it could work with Kinovea. Love using it for golf swing analysis by the way!

Thanks!

Hi Joan - I was able to get Kinovea working with 2 of the same FLIR cameras (Blackfly BFS-U3-16S2M-CS) using your GenICam plugin. Thank you!

I have 2 of the same FLIR cameras and I can verify that GenICam crashes Kinovea every time at software startup.  The not so great work around is to disconnect the cameras, open Kinovea, then reconnect the cameras.  They seem to be fine until the software is restarted.

I'm also using this for golf swing analysis and would love a perminant fix.

Thank you for the GenICam plugin!
I downloaded the 1.1.0 file and installed it as per the directions.
I am using Kinovea ver 2025.1.1

It is working perfectly with my
Teledyne BFS-U3-04S2M-CS .4mp mono 522fps camera.

Trying to use FLIR BFS-U3-16S2M-CS monochrome cameras with GenICam plugin 1.1.0 and Kinovea 2025.1.1 and Spinnaker 4.2.0.88, it doesn't work. The cameras show up in the navigation pane, but when selected there is no video and the camera configuration is sparse.

Did you copy over the GenTL_v140.cti file over to the GenICam folder within Kinovea? If I recall, there are two versions (32-bit and 64-bit?) so need to grab the correct one.

Normally you shouldn't need to copy the .cti files into the GenICam folder of Kinovea. When you install the GenTL provider of a given vendor like FLIR it will add itself to the environment variable GENICAM_GENTL64_PATH. You can check in the system environment variables if it correctly added its path there.

Thanks for the help! I copied the 64bit version of FLIR_GenTL_v140.cti into the GenICam folder and the fixed the issue.
